My fourth semester of classes

The present year its ending soon and my classes too :) , During my fourth semester of classes I Had to take 6 courses. One of them was the english 4 course, the highest english course for my studies program, it was fun but the course schedule horrible because the class started at 6 and a half PM a little late for me :( . Also the semester was wierd because it started during the middle of September and lasted until the end of December, it should have started during July but the students strike of the past semester changed the whole programation for this year, man I should be now enjoying my summer holydays but Im still having classes, anyway, we only have 2 weeks left to end the semester.
Looking at the whole picture of this fourth semester I think that I learned a lot of interesting theories and historic data related to arts, the literature class was amazing because we read some fantastic stories of Jorge Luis Borges the famous argentinian writer!, for the next year Im looking forward to take a lot of elective courses, it will be my third year of studies, time passes so fast when you think what have you done in the last months.

Arts and I

Since I was a kid I always wondered about arts, I still remember my arts classes at school, they were fun and exciting for me because sometimes we watched movies about artists, one of them was a movie directed by Salvador Dali. In this surrealistic movie Dali showed different sculptures and works of art (mainly panintings), this movie influenced heavily on me, since that day I wanted to know more about arts. Today I study theory and history of arts, in my studies program we learn about ancient to modern european arts history, aesthetics and a bit of philosophy.

G. Caillebotte. On the Europe bridge (1876)
In the near future I want to get a deeper study about ancient Roman art, maybe I will enroll in a postgradute course (masters level) in classical studies or literature because I like to read a lot.

My green side

I live in Santiago a very polluted city by the thousands of cars and buses that everyday travel around it transportng people to differente locations. Some people in Santiago prefer to ride a bicycle because they know that the city its polluted and the air its full of carbon monoxide a toxic gas that is toxic to all kindo of living forms, they do it because they want to stop contaminating the valley and I want it too. I consider myself a green frendlyu person, I like nature and I want to preserve it so in order to help the earth I walk everyday from my house to the university, also I collect the aluminium cans that my family dispose at home in order to recycle them in a recollection spot near my house. Bees are a essential insect, they are the key to human survival because they pollinate flowers, when I see a bee I try to not harm them, if the get caught inside my house I open the windows so they can get out as quickly as they can :)

Talking about movies

Hi guys, today im going to talk about my appreciation of 2 movies that made me meditate about their cinematographic qualities and aesthetic development. The first movie that Im going to talk about is Blade Runner (1982), directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer its a sci-fi film that takes course during the year 2019 in a futuristic looking Los Angeles where "replicants" (artificially enginereed humanoids) are forbidden to live and interact with humans. In this plot Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) a retired police officer works as a "Blade Runner" looking for the replicants among the citizens of L.A. and killing them. I really love this movie because the plot its very original, the soundtrack amazing (was composed by Vangelis) and its aesthetic production its one of the best that I have seen (the costumes, and scenarios are perfectly done).

On the other hand a movie that I just hate completly is any DC Or Marvel comics film because they are all the same, the "good guys" fighting the "bad guys" just make me sick its always the same story with different characters. They just keep repeating the plots and recycling the "heroes" like they were neverending stories.

A day I will always remember

Some days can be boring, others frustating but now Im going to talk about a day that has a special value for me. When I was 6 or 7 years old ( I dont remember the exact date) I was in my house watching tv during the evening when my mother told me that we had to go to my father´s workplace because he wanted to buy some new clothes. So we boarded the metro, then we arrived to the building located  in the downtown of Santiago were my father worked, took the elevator and waited inn the company front desk. Later my father appeared holding a shoe box in his hands, I noticed a noise coming from the inside of it, when he gave the box I opened it and I found a small cat!, it was a surprise made by my father. I named the cat tom because his fur was white and gray (just like the toon), he grew up big very quickly, years later he disappeared without any notice :(

A special song for me

I really like listening to music, when I was 8 years old my parents gave a small radio, it didn´t had a cassete or radio player but I learned to use the radio tuner.
I remember tuning to different broadcast stations during the night while I was in bed. Years later my parents gave me a INXS greatest hits CD for my 17 birthday, I still have it in my music collection and its one of my favorite music album. INXS was an australian music group that performed between the years 1977 and 1997

This CD includes tunes like "need you tonight" "original sin" and "never tear us apart" they are all great songs but I really enjoy the lyrics of tear us apart: I was standing/ you were there/ two worlds collided/ and they could never tear us apart .
"Never tears us apart" its one of my favorite songs, it talks about an inseparable couple wishing to be together for all their lives, it was written by the lead singer of the group Michael Hutchence withe the collaboration of Andrew Farris.

I really love it because the lyrics are very poetic, the saxophone gives it a lovely effect and music video recorded in Prague has a nostalgic atmosphere. Unfortunately Hutchence committed suicide in 1997 and the group ended their career shortly after. :(

BTW I really enjoy Shostakovich`s music:

My future job

Hi guys, this time Im gonna talk about my future "dream job", I expect someday to work as a Arts History teacher in a internationally renowned institution. After the completion of my current studies program I expect to enroll in a masters degree in Classical Studies to increase my knowledge about ancient civilizations and their Arts evolution.

I hope being able to start my career as an university teacher in the close future giving classes about Art History from the V century B.C. to the II century A.C., focusing in ancient greek and roman artworks and marbles.

Also It would be fantastic if someday i could write a group of short novels related to contemporary south american gangsters, I think that violence and drugs can elaborate an interesting fictional reading. Creating a story that takes place in the slums of Santiago or Buenos Aires can be interesting to foreign readers that are looking to know more about the real life of many south american who live under the line of poverty.
